Read our guide to find out what shops and restaurants/cafes you can expect to find when roaming around Oxford Street. We have also suggested some great hidden gems and unique shops that you may not have heard of, but that are definitely worth a visit.

Shopping in Oxford Street

If you are fond of department stores then you have a choice of, Selfridges, which needs no introduction, House of Frasier, John Lewis and Debenhams.

Not only does Oxford Street have great department stores but it also happens to be home of many flagship stores such as, Marks & Spencer (can’t go wrong when it comes to underwear), and Top Shop, if you are a fan, make sure you go to the bottom floor as there are some great pieces you wont find at other Top Shops. There is also a huge Zara, it doesn’t stock Zara home products, but they can be found at the Zara home branch on Regent Street, just around the corner. With a huge Nike and Adidas store on the street, the boys can be easily occupied as well.

You can also find many of the UK’s favourite high street stores scattered on Oxford Street such as, H&M, New Look and Next, each one containing slightly different stock. There is a huge Primark also located on the street ( we would make it a point to goat 8am or after 5pm if you want to avoid long queues)

Along Oxford Street you will find all the key places for shoes, such as Aldo, Barrats, Russell and Bromley etc however South Molton Street is great for any shoe lover. It is located just off Oxford Street and has many great shoe shops such as Kurt Geiger, Office and Pied a Terre.

Cafés and restaurants in Oxford Street

On Oxford Street itself there are more fast food types of places such as, McDonalds, Pret A Manger, Starbucks and places to eat in all the department stores. But for something more substantial if you start to wander around and go down a few of the roads off Oxford Street such as Duke Street, Wigmore Street etc there are plenty of great restaurants. For a great atmosphere whilst you eat, we would suggest St Christopher’s Place. It is away from the hustle and bustle on Oxford Street and has many great restaurants and cafes to eat at, highly recommended.

If you're looking for traditional British food with a subtle twist, we recommend Scoff & Banter Oxford Street, for something a bit different, check out these hidden gems:
