LOCAL CELEBRITIES TURN OUT FOR QUEEN OF HEARTS TEA PARTY FOR SHOOTING STAR CHASE

Radisson Edwardian Guildford Hosts Children’s Tea and Announces Charity Partnership

Celebrity faces including TV presenter Donal MacIntyre, publicist-to-the-stars Max Clifford and members of Harlequins RFC joined children from the Shooting Star CHASE Guildford hospice today for a special half term tea party at the Radisson Edwardian Guildford.

Organised by Shooting Star CHASE, the Queen of Hearts themed tea party launched the Guildford hotel’s 12-month partnership with the charity – Radisson Edwardian Guildford will provide hotel rooms for parents visiting children at the charity’s Guildford-based hospice and will make a donation for every Queen of Hearts afternoon tea sold.

Hotel staff, dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland, greeted guests as they arrived and around 20 children along with their parents and carers tucked into sandwiches and cakes whilst Fascinating Faces and Mr Giant kept the younger guests entertained with face painting and balloon models. The party brought the families together for a half term treat and included the siblings of children cared for by Shooting Star CHASE. Each child was also given a bag of gifts courtesy of Hasbro.

Speaking about the event, longtime Shooting Star CHASE supporter, Max Clifford, said “Shooting Star CHASE is a brilliant cause that I have supported for a decade. This is a wonderful event the Radisson Edwardian Guildford has put on and it is great to see the hotel commit so much support.”

Deputy General Manager, Stephen Botha, added “Since our opening last year we have been committed to supporting local charities and initiatives and it is a very proud day for us to announce our partnership with Shooting Star CHASE. I hope that our assistance will in some small way help alleviate pressure on the families whose children are under the care of Shooting Star CHASE. It is a remarkable organisation that deserves our support.”

Alex Robinson, Head of Corporate Fundraising for Shooting Star CHASE, added “Shooting Star CHASE is immensely grateful to all its supporters who help contribute £23,000 daily to maintain our vital service. Together we can make a real difference to the lives of local children, teenagers and their families. We are delighted to be working with the Radisson Edwardian Guildford and are grateful for their commitment to the charity throughout 2012.”
