MAKING BUSINESS A PLEASURE AT THE NEW RADISSON EDWARDIAN IN THE HEART OF GUILDFORD OPENING 29 SEPTEMBER 2011
On 29 September the visually stunning 183 bedroom Radisson Edwardian Guildford opens in the heart of this vibrant Surrey town, 30 minutes from the capital and equi-distant between Gatwick and Heathrow, with good links to the M3 and M25. The town is home to Surrey Business Park and Surrey Sports Park, the latter a major training base for teams ahead of London 2012. G Live, a new entertainment centre, also opens in Guildford in September.
The Guildford hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, mobile phone hire and a full service Business Centre, whilst bedrooms have laptop safes and a personal phone number with voicemail.
Facilities include flexible event space, which can be subdivided into three rooms or opened up to hold a cocktail reception for up to 400. In addition there are three meeting rooms with natural daylight (two hold 30 each theatre style and may be combined), plus a Board Room for 12, each providing a tranquil working environment and featuring the latest technology and on site AV support.
The four star deluxe hotel fuses the façade of an ancient coaching inn with an ultra modern glass structure featuring a double height atrium with inspired interiors, including a three metre chandelier and a library kiosk – an eyrie to observe without being seen, to wait for colleagues or read a book from the seven metre high bookcase, accessed by a “ladder to nowhere”. The design of the public areas is by Rabih Hage whose inspiration has been taken in part from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland – the author lived and is buried in Guildford.
Before or after work, The Spa is the place to energise, rejuvenate or relax using the stone sauna, mud room, crystal steam room, pool and gym – perhaps with a one to one session with the personal trainer. Treatments include the Mucho Macho treatment (for male and female guests) combining invigorating massage, deep cleansing and a boosting facial, whilst clients can experience instant results with Dr Murad’s cosmoseutical range of treatments.
For dining there in a choice of two contemporary restaurants: Market Kitchen & Bar for all day fresh, unpretentious Mediterranean-inspired bistro dining, where in the evening the cosmopolitan bar and al fresco terrace will feature cocktails to the beat of global music. In contrast, Relish salutes classic British dishes from Shepherd’s Pie to Fish and Chips, plus Sunday Roasts and tempting afternoon teas from the Shires, adding a contemporary twist and using the best local ingredients. In addition the in house events team is able to cater to corporate requirements.
Daily delegate rates start from £65 for a half day, £85 for a full day and £325 for 24 hours.
