NEW LUXURY HOTEL COMES TO GUILDFORD
International 4* luxury comes to Guildford as Radisson Edwardian – owners of London’s iconic May Fair Hotel – open their new property in the city this summer.
The 185 bedroomed hotel will feature two restaurants, dining terrace, two bars, a spa, gym, swimming pool, conference and meeting rooms and is set to become a significant destination in the town centre.
The £60m development on the site of the historic White Horse Hotel is collaboration between Marcol, the Nicolas James Group and the operator Radisson Edwardian Hotel Group.
Bars & Restaurants
The restaurants and bars will be created by renowned designers the Gorgeous Group, whose recent projects have included The Dorchester, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and the Savoy.
The stand-alone restaurant (still to be named) with direct access from the street will feature a Pan-Asian style menu. The look, style and decor has also been influenced by world-famous restaurant designer Martin Brudnizki to ensure the ambience will be as spectacular as the food itself.
A second restaurant will feature a collaboration with a celebrity chef to produce a menu of “grazing” style dishes giving diners a wide range of tastes and textures.
The main hotel restaurant will feature a regularly changing menu reflecting the very best of British. Seasonal produce will be sourced from local suppliers.
The Terrace at the front of the hotel will specialise in more casual dining and will be popular for coffee breaks and snacking to al fresco steak, salad and sandwich choices. The Terrace will also be ideal for pre and post event entertaining.
With its elegant and stylish design and street access, the bar will be a destination choice with seating for 120. Cocktails will feature strongly with innovative twists on classic favourites. Food will include a sharing menu based around oriental dishes such as highly flavoured and spiced tempura, salt chilli squid, crispy pork belly along with a wide sushi choice.
“There is already a high standard and choice of places to eat in Guildford and we know that we have to offer something really outstanding to be successful in this location,” commented Radisson Edwardian Director of Marketing Linda Plant.
“We’ve drawn on all of our experience throughout the group to provide a wide range of different eating experiences and expect that we will not just have “something for every taste” but that we will have restaurants and bars that people will want to come to enjoy on a regular basis. “
Luxury and style was the brief for the design team working on the 185 bedrooms in the hotel. The colours are rich, warm and welcoming. Guests will at once feel de-stressed, refreshed and energised after their stay.
The luxurious spa will house a swimming pool, state of the art gym, five treatment rooms, relaxation area, sauna, steam room and mud spa.
The hotel conference and meetings rooms will cater for events from 10 to 400 delegates and guests. All these rooms will have the latest presentation technology supported by in-house expertise to ensure that every event runs seamlessly.
Speaking of the new hotel, Linda Plant said: “This will be another jewel in the Radisson Edwardian crown and an important addition to the development of Guildford. With thirteen hotels to our name so far we have taken some of the best elements from our portfolio to deliver stylish, comfortable, enjoyable spaces and experiences. We believe that the hotel will be as popular with the local community as it will be with visitors to the city.”
The hotel is due to open in the Summer.
