To the team at Radisson Edwardian Vanderbilt,
“I felt a lot better about myself. It made me feel happy & relaxed" Basant cares for her husband with dementia
"It has given me the strength to carry on." Margaret 71, cares for sons with learning difficulties
"We felt like royalty" Stewart cares for his wife with mental health difficulties
I just wanted to write and say a huge THANK YOU for all the help you gave us for our Give Us a Break pilot project which took place in London this week. It was a huge success and the visitors had a fantastic time. They gained confidence, made new friends and most importantly were able to get away from their roles as carers and spend time being themselves. They were buzzing on the train home.
One of the highlights was to be completely spoilt at the Radisson Edwardian and they absolutely loved their afternoon tea. They felt extremely special. I know that you are asked on regular basis to be involved in charity initiatives so I am extremely grateful that you chose to support this project. It is a project particularly close to my heart.
You might like to know we are now in the process of setting up telephone friendship groups so that they can support each other as the break is over and share memories. I am then going to evaluate the project to see how we can potentially reach and support more carers in the future. I’ll keep you updated with our plans.
Thanks again to you and all the staff at the Radisson Edwardian Vanderbilt Hotel for your part in making our Give Us a Break pilot such a huge success.
