What began as a fairly small celebration of the short film format in 1995 has become one of the UK's largest film festivals. In fact, there are more than 400 films from over 20 countries, with numerous premieres. Each program features several short films grouped by theme: romance, fantasy, horror, animation, regional cinema and the like. In addition, there are a couple of side-festivals, but probably the most interesting and inspiring is Bluefire, which highlights new work by British and International Black and Asian Filmmakers.
