The Whitworth Gallery is home to many watercolors, sculptures, textiles and contemporary art. They have wallpapers from 17th-century homes and a collection of early British watercolors. There is also a library where you can learn more about prints and drawings.

This curvaceous glass facility on the banks of the Salford Quays offers numerous galleries with plenty of space and natural light. Famous for its collection of works by L.S. Lowry, a popular British artist who created ghostly figures and enigmatic drawings, there are also installations by other regional and international contemporary artists. ArtWorks allows visitors to experience art firsthand, entering a padded Perception Room and taking part in a digital mural that responds to sound and movement. The Lowry also houses two theatres: the Lyric Theatre seats 1700, and the Quays Theatre seats 466.
