Say hello to Steve Humpherson, our new Restaurant Manager at Dial Bar and Restaurant in Covent Garden. We caught up with him this week to get to know him better and to find out what’s happening at Dial this year.
- Steve, describe yourself in 5 words.
I would say: Ambitious, Entertaining, Energetic, Passionate and Courageous. Annabelle our Sales Manager is suggesting ‘modest’ should be in there too, haha.
- What do you love about Dial?
Dial has a real buzz about it. Whether you’re popping in for a post work drink, pre-theatre meal or lazy Sunday Afternoon Tea in London it has a great adaptable atmosphere which makes every experience different.
I love the eclectic mix of regular guests, tourists and corporate delegates that we attract at Mercer Street and the interaction that can be had with each.
It’s great to meet such a mix of people and play a part in making their stay memorable.
- What would you recommend from the menu?
I would suggest for starter the pancetta wrapped diver caughter scallops with leek puree. Mains I would suggest something meaty like the pan-fried best end of lamb, red onion potato cake, aubergine puree and rosemary sauce. And for dessert it would have to be the bitter chocolate tart with kumquat marmalade and cream.
It would have to be a Passion Fruit Mojito.
- What things can we expect to see from Dial in the coming months?
Lots of exciting things coming up! We are introducing a brand new menu in a few weeks’ time as well as a brand new concept coming soon. You can expect to taste the delights of a delicious Ham Hock and Vegetable Terrine, Ballantine of Salmon with a Warm potato salad, roast for Pork belly, traditional Fish and Chips and many more exciting treats!
Dial will also be merging from a separate bar and restaurant to one large open plan space, encouraging a group of friends having post work drinks to sit opposite a family having pre-theatre dinner. However we will still be keeping our contemporary charm and charisma and continue to be a hot spot for well-priced quality food and drink in the heart of Seven Dials in Covent Garden.
