Radisson Blu Edwardian Awarded Gold from the Green Tourism Business Scheme 0

GOLD GTBS Awards The Radisson Blu Edwardian Group has successfully achieved GOLD GTBS Awards for all of the hotels in the chain, which is a highly commendable and outstanding achievement.  The GOLD Award is the highest standard a business can achieve within the scheme and it is only exemplar businesses who achieve this accolade.

Radisson Blu Edwardian have worked hard to achieve this level and it is testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of the staff and management team.  Radisson Blu Edwardian have continued to excel in the areas relating to customer information and communication, investment in energy saving design and technology, their commitment to becoming more sustainable and carefully juxtaposing the expectations and quality of a luxury brand with the ethics of sustainable tourism.


Green Meetings

Wendy Fail, Grading Assessor for GTBS, stated “Radisson Blu Edwardian Group show a clear understanding and commitment to the green tourism ethos.  They provide an outstanding customer experience, whilst ensuring a sympathetic approach to the environment.  They are one of the most impressive businesses I have graded and their enthusiasm for the scheme and holistic approach to sustainability is to be highly commended”.

She continued “ Onsite, the business has undertaken significant measures to reduce energy consumption across all the hotels and the supporting green management structure, including the excellent i-connect, green ideas for staff and innovative energy and cost saving measures help to set them apart from other hotel chains.  They are a excellent green champion for sustainable good practice”.

Responsible Business

The GTBS assessment is undertaken on 145 measures, of which the most significant 60 are chosen.  Each criteria is assessed on a scale of maximum  (best practice) to 0 (no action currently being undertaken/worst practice).  There are 10 separate sections to the assessment which include energy, water, waste, management, travel, nature and culture, purchasing, communication, compliance with minimum standards and innovation.

The level of attainment is based on the overall percentage of scores achieved in each of the 60 measures; a business has to gain over 80% for a GOLD.
